I was recently asked to contribute to a new video for the You Can Do This Project. Since I love the project and the crew behind it, I was super flattered and said yes, of course! John graciously agreed to join me, so we got our game faces on and proceeded to record the most awkward video responses of all time. Luckily our advice was pared down to bite-size portions of uncomfortableness and edited in between people who are much more natural in front of a camera. But don't let mine and John's SRS BSNS faces dissuade you from watching, because there are some gems of advice shared by everyone, and it's only 15 minutes long.
To me, the YDCT project is so powerful because it is incredibly comforting to know that you are not the only person dealing with the challenges of living with diabetes. And if my speaking stiffly into a video camera for a few minutes can help someone else down the line, I am happy to be a part of it.
Seriously though, high fives all around to all the parents and teenagers (current, future and past) out there, fighting the good fight. Keep on truckin'.
[For some reason, I'm not able to embed the video on my blog, so you'll have to watch it on YouTube. I know it's April Fool's today, but I promise I'm not RickRolling you.]
And just so there's something of visual interest in this post, here's a pic of my kid and her friend at the first showing of Divergent last month. Because, obviously.
I love you, awkwardness and all.
ReplyDeleteThat goes for your husband and kid too.
Seriously though... You guys rocked it!
You forgot to tell them to watch all the way to the end. That's my favorite part! (Not really, but I really do like the ending!)
ReplyDeleteLook how cool your girl is, squatting there.
ReplyDeleteI loved your video.
Is SRS BNS = seriously, but not *seriously*
I'll never know because there's no clicky box for notify me if the lady at this blog writes back.
