You didn't think I'd let the moment pass for too long without first photographing and then sharing it with the world wide web, did you? Here's last year's as well as the seven years prior.

My refrigerator is covered with pictures of friends and family from near and far. It makes happy every time I open it to see faces that I rarely get to see in person. Loved ones living in Germany, Colorado, Arizona, Maryland, California: all smiling back at me as I get the milk for my cereal. And right by the door handle is a Schuhmacher family Christmas card photo. I smile at Meri's family every time I open my fridge.

John and I also think of Meri's husband Ryan every time L's pump needs a reservoir change because Ryan once posted a video of him changing a reservoir in a ridiculously short amount of time. And John will sometimes set his phone to time him while he fills a new reservoir, even though he knows he has no chance of touching Ryan's record. John's just shooting for a personal best, I think. But every time we change a reservoir, we think of Ryan, his fingers flying through the process as quickly as you can imagine. I think he could have done it blindfolded if necessary.

Two weeks ago, Ryan passed away. This leaves a huge hole in the lives of all who knew and loved him. If you are able, please take a moment to look at the fundraising page for their family, and consider what Sara recently posted:
