John and I also think of Meri's husband Ryan every time L's pump needs a reservoir change because Ryan once posted a video of him changing a reservoir in a ridiculously short amount of time. And John will sometimes set his phone to time him while he fills a new reservoir, even though he knows he has no chance of touching Ryan's record. John's just shooting for a personal best, I think. But every time we change a reservoir, we think of Ryan, his fingers flying through the process as quickly as you can imagine. I think he could have done it blindfolded if necessary.
Two weeks ago, Ryan passed away. This leaves a huge hole in the lives of all who knew and loved him. If you are able, please take a moment to look at the fundraising page for their family, and consider what Sara recently posted:
GiveForward: Schuhmacher Family Miracle
- Consider the medical bills related to three boys with diabetes.
- Consider the medical bills related to a courageous battle with cancer.
- Consider the bills related to daily living – house, electricity, phone, gas, car, etc.
- Consider just the food bills related to four growing boys!
Ryan was the sole source of income for his family. Please help us
support Meri through her financial needs so that she and the boys can
focus on what is really important.
That refrigerator makes me smile with all the love covering it! Thinking of this family and all the other families moving through their day without the ones they love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post and what a beautiful refrigerator. I love that you keep your photos right there where you can enjoy them every day, instead of tucked away in a box somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful project. The power of social media at times like this is a miracle in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteI've missed your blog. Glad you're back.
I was THINKING that video was Ryan. I want to see it again. I remember being very impressed with the video, and also with the spirit of fun they were having with their cartridge change, because I saw the video when changing a cartridge was VERY LABORIOUS and GUT-TIGHTENING for me and seeing Ryan being all blip-beep-boop-bam-done, and the fact that his lady was there *filming* this thing that scared me so much, made me feel so much better. I want to see the video again! I don't know how to find it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, thank heavens you're back. I think it might be true that I check every day, and then feel indicted when the same post is looking at me. What's wrong with you? Why do you keep looking here? It's the nursery school friend still. Get a life.
ReplyDeleteBut your're HERE!
And this: last year we had no xmas card. I was too overwhelmed with having diabetes. This year I think I'll hop back on, if only because I hope for a place on your fridge.
Your fridge is awesome! And so is this post! It's beautiful.
